Secondary Central Student Interest Programs – What TDSB Offers
Secondary Schools with Central Student Interest Programs in the TDSB are in the categories of Arts, Exceptional Athletes, Integrated Technology, International Baccalaureate (IB), Leadership Pathway, and Math/Science and Technology (MST). Each school offers a variation to their program which is why it is important to do your research. While TDSB info nights span November 2023 to January 2024, all secondary schools that offer Central Student Interest Programs will host in November due to the upcoming deadline.
While these sessions are heavily attending by grade 8 students and their families given grade 9 is the major intake year, they are in fact open to the community. If your child is interested in a specialized program with an application process, you may want to consider starting even earlier such as in grade 7 to give enough time to make an informed decision. Many of these special programs will also have spots available in grade 10 and 11, so it is never too late to try!

Application Process for TDSB Secondary Central Student Interest Programs in November 2023
Unlike attending your local feeder school based on where you live, students interested in attending schools with Central Student Interest Programs need to apply.
For families with older siblings or friends who have applied in previous years, the process has changed dramatically for 2023/24. Students previously attended auditions or wrote entrance exams for each school of interest. This is no longer the case, with applications processed centrally through a random selection process when applicants exceed spaces available (after considering admission priority groups). This is to reflect equity and increase representation of historically underserved communities.
Online Applications will be available from November 6, 2023, to November 24, 2023 (4:00pm). Students are permitted to apply to one primary Central Student Interest Program and one alternate choice. All applicants must submit an “Expression of Interest”.
First round of acceptances and waitlist status will be sent by e-mail on December 7, 2023, expiry of offers on December 13, 2023, at 4:00pm. Second round of acceptances and waitlist status takes place on December 14, 2023, expiry of offers on December 20, 2023, at 4:00pm.
