Get a Head Start on School with Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is a helpful way for students to get a head start on the school year. Here are a few ways it can benefit your child to work with a tutor before the school year begins.

It’s hard to believe that summer is already drawing to a close and that a new school year is beginning. Many parents are exploring ideas for easing their children back into fall routines and ensuring they are prepared for entry into their grade level.

Online tutoring is a proactive way to halt the summer slide in its tracks and rebuild strong school habits in time for the new academic year.

If you haven’t considered starting your child with online tutoring before, then now is a great time to explore it!

Here are some ways that it can help your child:

  • Having a trusted adult (who is not mom or dad) help introduce and reinforce good study habits.

Good study habits are the foundation of long-term success, both in school and in university… and life!

  • Improved self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.

A little extra practice can make a world of difference in a child’s self-esteem. A more confident student will be happier to participate in class, complete homework and earn good grades!

  • Extra one-on-one time with a tutor who understands the curriculum for the upcoming year.

Your child can get a jump start over the summer months with an online tutor who knows what will be addressed in the curriculum ahead by introducing these new subjects and concepts, as well as brushing up on any gaps together.

  • Individualized help in the subjects that your child needs most.

Every student has a subject where they could use some extra help – and that’s perfectly okay. Knowing where skills and confidence are a little bit weaker means that a tutor knows exactly where to focus and help the most!

  • Helps challenge high-performing students.

Many high-performing students can get bored easily and crave extra enrichment. An online tutor isn’t just for students who need a little extra help. Tutoring is also helpful for children who want to be challenged more. Extra lessons or working ahead will set them up for success!

  • Direct feedback from an educator on how your child is doing.

Sometimes it can be hard to get a sense how your child is doing in the classroom between progress reports and final report cards. A tutor can help assess your child’s last report card to provide you with direct feedback on where your child may need to spend some extra time for the year ahead.

  • Encourages independent work, planning, and learning.
You might be surprised to find out that your child can learn to manage their own schedule and show up on time for their online tutoring sessions! Academic coaching will help your child learn to set aside parts of their day to accomplish tasks, complete work and meet deadlines. Organization and time management are also important life skills to have.
