Four Great Reasons to Support Small Businesses

Did you know that October is small business month? As a small business ourselves, we have always been happy to promote the supporting of small business owners. This year in particular, it’s important to do what we can to help small businesses survive through the restrictions of COVID, which has hit a great many businesses particularly hard.

We are grateful to the families and teachers who have trusted and supported us during these unprecedented times. We’d like to spend a little time paying it forward – here are some great reasons to support small local businesses.

1 – Helping small businesses thrive. Small local businesses are known to be the heart and soul of the neighbourhood. They are grounded in the community itself and have owners who live in the area and support others too!

2 – It can be environmentally friendly. This is especially true of operations like farms! Locally produced goods and foods don’t have to take such big trips, reducing their carbon footprint significantly.  Afterall, it’s apple season here in Ontario right now, and a good opportunity for a fun family outing.

3 – You support uniqueness and character in the marketplace.

Small business owners can bring their own personal experiences, skills, and preferences to their products and to their services, meaning that you are likely to find something special by shopping local.

4 – They care about your good opinion. A small business owner knows their clientele and cares about the customer experience. Most small business owners tend to be hands-on or deeply involved in their businesses, and good customer service is important to them.
